Last October I was 8-weeks postpartum and participating in AMC’s From the Core Postnatal Recovery class. I was the teacher but more importantly, I was also a new mom eager to meet other women who had just entered motherhood and ready to start a regular exercise routine. The class proved to be a huge success on all accounts.
The women I met in class are compassionate, talented, funny, supportive, energetic and incredibly generous. We bonded. One of the moms organized weekly lunch outings for us after class, and we became more familiar with one another. We shared our challenges of being a new mom, exchanged ideas about parenting, and the struggles of returning to work. This was a special time in our lives.
Flash forward to August 2012. A handful of us are still friends – a few very close – and connect regularly. On Thursday, one mom organized a luncheon for us and the babies to celebrate their birthdays and surviving our first year of motherhood. It was great to see everyone together again socially and share an afternoon with amazing women.
As a mom, it is inspiring to experience the support that the Active Moms’ Club community provides. Do you have a similar story? Tell us about the friends you have made through AMC.
