Each holiday season, we add a charitable cause to our holiday giving list. This year, we’re proud – and motivated – to support The Primo Center for Homeless Women and Children in partnership with Classic Kids Photography.
Located on the west side, the Primo Center provides food, shelter and safety for homeless women and their children who have experienced abuse. The shelter currently is serving nine homeless women who have 14 children among them. This holiday season, Julie the owner of Classic Kids, is calling on the community to help provide gifts for these young children and their mothers.
The good news is that the Center was just notified of a $600,000 grant from the City of Chicago to move to a larger facility where they can expand their capacity hugely. HOWEVER, they need to raise $50,000 to go along with the grant in order to secure the space.
Here’s how you can help… Now through December 18th, AMC will be collecting wrapped or unwrapped gifts for the families at the Primo Center. While you are out shopping this week, please consider picking up an extra gift for a child or mom. For people who have so little, anything would be so wonderful. Nine children are under the age of five, three more are five, and two are elementary school age. (85% of the children have been subject to some kind of abuse before they got to the shelter. Nearly all the women have as well.)
